The corporate world left us unfulfilled and wanting more from life. Prior to Sasasweets, Joe was a technologist and Liza was an accomplished pastry chef. In 2007, we left our corporate lives behind and together we dove deeply into our love of food.
We are doing our best to live the American dream. Only in America can you do what we’ve done - leave stable, successful careers to start something seen by many (especially our parents) as purely crazy - and we’re having a blast! Are we nuts...you betcha...
SasaSweets was started in 2007 by brother and sister team - Joe Vergara and Liza Vergara-Gross. When we landed in Las Vegas, frozen pops were no where in mind. We actually got our start at the local farmers markets selling handmade pastries, desserts and Hawaiian style snow cones called Shave Ice. Back then we only made cookies for small restaurants and cafes. Since then, we slowly expanded our product offerings to all sorts of traditional desserts like cakes, pies and petits four.
Since the start, we built a steady reputation for having the highest quality, super decadent desserts. We've been featured in most of the local newspapers and supplied many well known restaurants in Las Vegas with pastries and desserts. As we looked to the future, we wanted to find a way to grow, but the perishable nature of our desserts made expansion into the retail market difficult. We wanted to create a unique dessert with an extended shelf life without using any preservatives or any other weird additives. When we remembered the frozen pops we made as kids, we had our answer.
In 2011, we began manufacturing frozen desserts. We asked ourselves how do we take our traditional desserts and transform it into a frozen version on a stick - that's how SasaPops was created. SasaPops has been presented with two national food awards:
We have supplied desserts to several well know restaurants and resorts such as:
We make the most decadent handmade desserts in Las Vegas and we are the only purveyor of artisan frozen pops in Nevada. Come visit us and try it for yourself. Come taste the good life.
